CARBON FIBER-FILLED PTFE

  • Lower deformation under load
  • Higher compressive and flex modulus and increased hardness
  • Chemically inert–can be used in strong alkali and in HF, where glass reinforced compounds fail
  • Good initial wear and rubbing or sliding characteristics in both dry and water applications
  • Frequently used in piston rings to reduce cylinder wall wear

    • Cylinders to 7” OD and 12” long
    • Rod
    • Material Type; reforcement filler plus PTFE: 5% carbon fiber; 95% PTFE
    • Max. PV (psi-fpm); Mpa-m/s: 10,000; 0.35
    • Operating Temp.: minus 350F - plus 500F
    • Attribute/Properties: Increased hardness, lower deformation under load; can be used in HF and strong alkali where glass filled PTFE fails; less abrasive on mating surface
